How the calculation works

Etsy takes several cuts on every sale: a listing fee when you publish, a 6.5% transaction fee on item price plus shipping, and payment processing. If Offsite Ads drove the order, Etsy also charges 12% (or 15% once the shop passed $10k in the previous year). This Etsy fee calculator stacks those line items so you can price for profit.

Fees change and vary by country. Figures here follow the common US structure (6.5% + 3% + $0.25 + $0.20) with UK/EU/AU processing alternatives. They do not include Etsy Ads (on-site), pattern/shipping-label costs, VAT you may collect, or currency conversion. Always confirm against Etsy’s current seller handbook before you set a price.

Formula

Order total = price × qty + shipping. Listing fee = $0.20. Transaction fee = 6.5% × order total. Payment processing ≈ 3% + $0.25 (US). Offsite Ads = 12% or 15% of order total when the sale came from Offsite Ads. You receive = order total − all fees.

Worked example

A $35 item with $5 shipping in the US, no ads: $40 order, $0.20 listing, $2.60 transaction, $1.45 processing → about $4.25 in fees and $35.75 net.
