TV size vs viewing distance is why 75-inch sets exist: 4K stays sharp closer than 1080p did. A common 4K rule is diagonal inches ≈ 8 × distance in feet (9 ft → ~72 in). Living rooms that mix sports, news, and movies often go a size down so the image is not overwhelming.
Measure from eyes to screen, not wall to couch back. Wall-mount height and glare matter as much as diagonal. This is not a THX cinema certification — it is a shopping starting point before you buy.
