How the calculation works

Twitch Bits are the cheer currency on a channel. Broadcasters are paid one U.S. cent per Bit that is cheered (before any unrelated payout thresholds). Viewers pay more than a cent because Twitch and payment processors take a cut when Bits are purchased. This Bits to USD calculator shows both sides.

Cheer badges (100, 1,000, 5,000, 10,000, …) are lifetime Bits cheered on that channel, not a separate currency. Pack prices vary by country, sale, and Amazon/Twitch promotions, so viewer cost is an estimate. Creator payouts can also depend on how you get paid (threshold, country).

Formula

Streamer payout = Bits × $0.01 (one cent per Bit). Viewer cost is typically about $0.014 per Bit based on common 100-Bit packs at $1.40, so 1,000 Bits ≈ $14 spent and $10 received by the channel. Twitch keeps the difference.

Worked example

5,000 Bits pay the broadcaster $50. A viewer usually spends about $70 on that many Bits, depending on the pack and local pricing.

Frequently asked questions

How much is 1 Twitch Bit in USD?

Streamers receive $0.01 per Bit. Viewers typically pay around $0.014 per Bit when buying standard packs.

How much is 10,000 Bits worth?

$100 to the streamer. Viewer spend is roughly $140 before discounts.

Do Bits equal real money for the viewer?

Bits are purchased; they are not a cash wallet you can withdraw. Only the channel’s payout converts Bits cheered into money.

Are Cheer badges based on Bits?

Yes. Badge tiers mark how many Bits you have cheered on that specific channel.

Does Twitch take a cut of Bits?

Yes on the purchase. The channel still sees $0.01 per Bit cheered; the extra the viewer paid is not added to that payout.
