Clock In / Clock Out Calculator
Convert clock-in and clock-out punches to paid hours with unpaid break and payroll rounding: none, 5, 10, 15 minutes, or the 7-minute rule.
How to use this clock in / clock out calculator
U.S. payroll often rounds punches to the nearest 15 minutes using a 7-minute grace rule. This clock in clock out calculator shows raw hours next to rounded hours so you can see what the rounding did. It is one pair of punches; the Time Card Calculator is the weekly sheet without rounding.
Formula
Worked example
In 08:07 and out 16:52 with a 30-minute break: 7-minute rule rounds to 08:00 and 16:45 → 8.75 hours before break → 8.25 paid hours.

Minutes 1–7 of a quarter hour round back; 8–14 round forward to the next quarter. 8:07 → 8:00, 8:08 → 8:15.
Is rounding legal?
Federal rules allow rounding if it is neutral over time, not always against the employee. Follow your handbook.

Break is subtracted after rounding the in/out punches.
